Revision as of 09:26, 12 March 2022

Hello ! please change lesbophobia to lesbiphobia seeing as lesbo is a wlw slur and so lesbiphobia is the preferred title unless the person who wrote that page was a lesbian. Still better for non lesbians to rather read it as lesbi. Thank you

Thanks for that feedback! Will do! --Jenjenreviews (talk) 09:56, 26 August 2021 (PDT)

Transmisia

Add transmisia and homomisia

We should differentiate between "transphobia" is an irrational fear, and a medical condition, and not under someone's control; and transmisia that is expression of hatred and harassment towards transgender people.

From trans- +‎ -misia, the suffix used in English to denote hatred

A lot of transgender people have internalised transphobia (which causes a significant amount of gender identity related dysfunction).

I know transgender people who are years along in their transition, presenting as their own gender every day, and living happy healthy lives that nevertheless have occasional bouts of "I don't want to be transgender, I wish I could just have been born cisgender, why did this have to happen to me", both in the "this is a very strange feeling / perception / existence" sense and in the "society hates me and I want to escape that" sense.

Socially expressed transmisia feeds internalised transphobia - the same way socially expressed misogyny feeds internalised self-esteem issues and internalised misogyny.
