- Ableism One character insults another character who is on crutches.
- Anxiety The FMC suffers from occasional panic attacks.
- Assault On-screen physical assault of both the FMC and MMC. It is also briefly implied that another character (not the MMC or FMC) experienced sexual assault in the past.
- Addiction, Drugs, Alcohol The FMC is in recovery from her drug addiction. She struggles occasionally with thoughts of relapsing. While she does not consider herself an alcoholic, she also abstains from alcohol as part of her recovery. At one point in the book, she does give in to the urge to drink. That's the only time she abuses any substances on-screen.
